June 15th, 2013 at 14:21

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
