NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
