NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he liked gambling on numerous card games when he was young. He found himself getting very competitive in the above-mentioned card games while competing against his father. After graduating from secondary school, Howard made a decision to place higher education on hold for a little while and moved away to New York City to participate in some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first two years were difficult as he would play countless hours and lost most times. He earned some additional cash by being an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he could improve his game by adjusting his life outside of poker. He brought about an attempt to acquire more sleep and concentrate even more on poker.

The actual improvement in his skills began when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the the most favorable gamblers would frequently challenge one another. Howard was able to access several of the best players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would tweak his strategic thinking techniques. He applied these strategic ideas to the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.

Howard also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie was a great student of poker as she would always be asking questions about how to make the correct choice. He told Annie Duke to head out to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the strongest women players the poker arena today. Howard headed to Vegas in 1993 and played cash games for the subsequent decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, he made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
