Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

April 1st, 2021 at 19:25

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve closing table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While betting on online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I think television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
