Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

October 13th, 2021 at 3:25

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the final poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
