Web poker has become world acclaimed as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back quite a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years many variations on the earliest poker game have been developed, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers wager against the dealer rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no concealment or different types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the croupier saying "No more bets." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course all of the other players receive 5 cards. After you have looked at your hand and the bank’s first card, you have to either make a call bet or bow out. The call wager’s amount is equal to your original ante, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your wager goes directly to the house. After the bet is the showdown. If the house does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is given back, with an amount in accordance with the ante. If the casino does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays out chips equal to your ante and set odds on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
