Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
