Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
