Omaha Hi/Lo: Basic Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most complex but popular poker games. It is a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once obscure game, has grown in acceptance so quickly.
Omaha 8 or better begins exactly like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to each player. A sequence of betting ensues where gamblers can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is called the flop. One more round of wagering ensues. After all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, another card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of betting ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants will need to make the strongest high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a number of entrants often get confused. Unlike Hold’em, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must use precisely 3 cards from the board, and exactly two hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."
A high hand is just what it sounds like. It is the strongest hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the identical approach in just about all poker games.
The lower hand is more complex, but certainly free’s up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be put together, with the lowest value being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The low hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there’s no low hand presented, the high hand takes the entire pot.
It may seem complex at the start, after a few rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the basic subtleties of play with ease. Seeing as you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha/8 provides an exciting array of wagering choices and owing to the fact that you have numerous individuals trying for the high, and many shooting for the low hand. If you love a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha hi lo.
